Lim Guan Eng's unwarranted over-reaction to a proposal to shift the Penang Port.

I am appalled by Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng's unwarranted over-reaction to a proposal to shift the Penang Port. The suggestion was one of the many bandied about during a dialogue between port users and NGOs with the Minister of Transport Dato' Sri Ong Tee Keat on May 6, 2010.

I see no reason why the Chief Minister who's from Malacca, need to get so worked up to the point of branding the proposer anti-Penang? Surely, he can't run the State like his own DAP where he expect everyone to toe his line.

It is through such brainstorming sessions that one can find new, unconventional ideas that may make Penang Port the leading port it used to be.

The Minister of Transport had made it very clear that all views expressed during the dialogue must be respected and studied. If Mr Lim care to read the newspapers carefully, Dato' Sri Ong had never said that plans were afoot to move Penang Port.

It is time Mr Lim stop fishing in troubled waters and waste precious time playing to the gallery. It is time he comes up with ideas to look at ways to further develop Penang, including bringing more trade to Penang Port. And such new ideas can only come about only if Mr Lim can accept out-of-the-box suggestions that may not necessarily be in line with his world view.
